MEC names MediaCom’s Gordon Domlija as new China CEO

GroupM agency MEC has named MediaCom’s strategy chief Gordon Domlija as new chief executive of its Chinese operation.

Domlija, previously chief strategy officer at MediaCom and head of the agency’s Shanghai office, replaces Christian Guinot, who is “pursuing other opportunities within the Group”.

Prior to joining MediaCom in 2014, Domlija had enjoyed stints with Mindshare, ZenithOptimedia and Team Saatchi over a 20-year career in media and marketing.

Peter Vogel, CEO of MEC Asia Pacific, said: “I am delighted that [Domlija] has joined the MEC team. He’s a seasoned professional with a unique blend of strategic and trading experience. He is committed to this market, having already spent over seven years in China and has an exceptional knowledge of the media industry here.”

Domlija added: “With such a diverse client portfolio both national and international, and a team of hungry, talented staff across China, coupled with a tangible agency culture, I’m relishing the challenge to create long-term sustainable growth for MEC in China.”

Last month, MEC announced the promotion of deputy managing director Paul Hutchinson to chief operating officer of the UK agency.

Hutchinson joined the company in 2010 as managing partner and head of communications, following three years at Vizeum. He will be responsible for communications planning, activation and investment teams, looking at relationships with media owners and third parties.
