According to Mumbrella, IAG insurance has joined a growing list of advertisers asking questions on whether MediaCom has been overcharging them for TV advertising bought on its behalf.

IAG Insurance is the third company to confirm that it is examining the TV audience numbers reported to it by the agency alongside Foxtel and Yum restaurants.

Auditors Ernst and Young have been brought in by MediaCom to carry out an audit of its procedures.

According to reports, the agency is insisting that the issues are coming from a small number of clients from its Sydney office. On Friday, MediaCom’s chief executive Mark Pejic confirmed that one member of staff had been fired and another suspended. It is also thought that nearly ten other staff members have resigned.

Pejic confirmed to Mumbrella: “We had our internal auditors in all last week and we are engaging an external audit firm who will work on behalf of us and our clients to ensure that we are running to global best practice.”

Pejic said that he expects the audit to take a “number of weeks” to complete.

MediaCom did not immediately respond to M&M Global after a request for comment.
