Rob Bassett moves into new ad role as eBay creates new Europe leadership

EBay’s head of UK sales Rob Bassett is to take on the role of head of UK and EU multinational advertising, overseeing strategy and operations for the company’s newly-aligned UK and European advertising business.



Bassett joined eBay advertising as head of sales strategy in 2009 with over 20 years’ experience in sales management, recently working on the roll-out of the ‘Advanced Targeting’ suite, which harnesses insights from users.

“In the last three years, as the industry has embraced automation, we’ve grown the business significantly, introducing new products that are helping brands be more useful and relevant to audiences with a shopping mind-set, who are in a shopping environment,” said Bassett. “I’m looking forward to strengthening our role as advertising innovator in the years to come.”

Bassett succeeds Phuong Nguyen, who will take on a broader remit as director of EU advertising strategy, product and operations.

“Rob has been a valued member of the organisation for many years now, said Nguyen. “I know he has the vision and ability to take our business to the next stage of its growth, as part of a more aligned European advertising team.”

Jean-Baptiste Goux, who has grown the publisher’s programmatic offering in the UK, will also become eBay’s head of EU business operations and technology across EMEA.
