Many had expected JK Shin, CEO of the South Korean firm’s mobile division, to leave his post, after the brand reported a 74% year-on-year drop in third-quarter mobile revenues in October.

However, according to a Wall Street Journal report, Lee, president and head of sales and marketing of Samsung’s mobile business, is expected to leave his post in the coming weeks. It is not known who will replace him.

As recently as September, Lee took to the stage at consumer electronics show IFA in Berlin to unveil the new Galaxy Note 4 handset. At the event, he told a press conference that Samsung’s mobile business will recover quickly due to “its strong fundamentals and technological prowess”.

Other under-pressure Samsung Electronics senior executives such as Shin, co-CEO BK Yoon, and component business chief executive Kwon Oh-hyun are set to remain in their roles.
