WPP appoints Scott Spirit to head up its digital arm

WPP has appointed its chief strategy officer Scott Spirit as chief digital officer for its digital arm, WPP Digital.

The appointment follows the appointment of WPP Digital’s current chief executive Mark Read as chief executive of Wunderman back in January.

Spirit will continue his duties as chief strategy officer for WPP. As chief digital officer, he will be responsible for digital strategy, the organisation of digital resources for clients along with WPP’s digital conference, Stream.

Spirit – who has been based in Singapore in his role since 2010 – was previously the strategy director for China and APAC.

Along with Spirit’s appointment, Mark Povey has also been appointed as chief operating officer of WPP Digital.

Earlier this week (9 March), WPP’s CEO Sir Martin Sorrell announced during the group’s preliminary results for 2014 that the advertising giant will be learning to understand and use technology, data and content in 2015.
