Openr

London based Start-up, Openr, is helping companies get the activity they desire from the content they share.

Openr

Company: Openr

Sector: Marketing tech for B2B and B2C brands

Location: London

Regions Covered: Everywhere the internet is, baby!

Founded By: Two seasoned entrepreneurs on a mission: Christina Richardson is the marketer – she’s worked on brands like Nescafe and Robinsons and Vitaly Yakovlev is the techie with 15 years of software development expertise. Put them together and you get Openr.

Are they rocket scientists? As it happens – Vitaly is a rocket scientist (no really). After selling his first software at the tender age of ten, he went to the University of Aerospace Instrumentation, so rocket-science is exactly up his street. As for Christina – well, she just keeps Vitaly in check and makes sure it all makes sense to customers.

Who are your major backers? Sorry, that would be telling

Whats your track record? We have over 1500 brand users in 28 countries using Openr to drive action from the content that they share

What do they say? After they get over the initial shock that they can add their own promotional message onto any page that they share, they are then amazed at the 4% average click-through-rate (compared to 0.01% for digital display ads).

What does this mean? It means digital marketers can drive measurable actions from all the content that they are sharing – rather than just sharing it on social media and on emails and just hoping to get results.

What makes your company different to its competitors? Openr is a unique and disruptive online marketing tool that lets you add relevant promotional messages onto any page that you share, making content sharing get the action you want – whether its traffic, email subscriptions or purchases. We all know there is so much sharing activity on social media in particular – every minute there are 278,000 tweets and 2,460,000 Facebook posts – all in the name of ‘engagement’.  But businesses care about traffic and sales, not fans and followers, and it is really challenging to tie all this activity back to these desired actions. When you’re sharing your own content there is limited capacity to self-promote and when you’re sharing all that third party content you’re just sending traffic away to other people’s sites – so businesses and their marketers are left fuelling news-feeds and engaging fans with little or no payback.

Openr changes all that by letting you add your own message and a direct call-to-action onto every page shared online. So with Openr, you drive action from the content you share. See one in action here – Openr.co/38Z

First clients? By closing the gap between content sharing and direct action, Openr has already been named a Must-Have Marketing Tool for 2015 by Entrepreneur Magazine and is being used by enterprise-level clients including Vodafone and agency giants in the WPP group.

How could your company change the world? By completely changing how content is shared online for the benefit of consumers, brands and publishers.

Who do you compete with? N/A

Who should be worried? Marketers not embracing new innovation: A new world of sharing content is coming!

If you could choose any investor globally, who would it be? WPP Digital

If you could poach any member of staff from any company in the world, who would it be? Right, so we’ve done a straw poll amongst the team, created a complete deluge of arguments and (sort-of) settled on Marissa Mayer.
