Samsung poaches Unilever’s media boss Jay Altschuler

Samsung has hired Unilever’s top media exec Jay Altschuler to handle its global media planning and buying, according to reports.

Altschuler joined Unilever in 2006 and most recently worked as director of global media innovation.

According to AdAge, Altschuler started work at Samsung this month and is based in New York. He did not respond to a request for comment.

Last year, Altschuler discussed the last 25 years of his career in celebration of M&M Global’s 25th birthday.

In his interview he explained his desire “that our industry has to claim the end of things” referring to “the end of TV” as an example. You can read the full interview here.

Earlier this month, Samsung Electronics boss BK Yoon gave the opening keynote speech at the 2015 International Consumers Electronics Show. Yoon called for greater openness and collaboration across industries to unlock more possibilities of the Internet of Things.
